Northbrook Canoe Challenge Benefiting Cerebral Palsy Association of Chester County

Event Details

  • Date:

It is that time of year again when the Cerebral Palsy Association of Chester County Northbrook Canoe Challenge is held.
This year, it will be on Saturday – May 3, 2025. The event itself kicks off in the water at noon. However, we need the operators to be in position between 10:30am and 11:00am. This allows for us to be ready for when the buses run the participants to the starting line. We need to be sure we are communicating with net control and all is well. I will be available early that morning and will be able to help operators find their positions and any other items needing help. We usually wrap up between 2:30pm and 3:00pm. It all depends upon how many participants they have and how fast the water is.
The Canoe Challenge is one of the events that CCAR provides communications for, and the sponsors are very appreciative of the excellent job we do. It is an easy event to participate in as an operator. The only equipment needed is an HT and yourself. We have operators placed at strategic points along the Brandywine Creek. We are there to monitor the progress and safety of the participants in the canoes. We are joined by the Chester County Dive Team. The dive team is also placed at a few strategic points and they provide in-water help.
More information on the event can be found on the event website at: https://www.ccdisability.org/events/
Thank you for your support and I look forward to working with all of the volunteers.
